What is live-in care?
Live-in care is the alternative many people now prefer to residential care. If you have an elderly loved one who can no longer live independently but is unwilling to consider going into a care home, Elder can offer the solution that you need. For elderly people in Battersea and nearby parts of the capital, such as Fulham, Chelsea and Clapham, who need long-term care, remaining in their own home can be made possible with an Elder live-in carer.
Why is live-in care in Battersea preferable to a care home?
Care homes are rarely able to offer the high level of one-to-one care enjoyed by Elder’s care recipients. Not only will your elderly relative’s health and social care needs be met by a highly trained and experienced carer, but they will also benefit from the companionship that comes with having a live-in carer staying in their home around the clock.
Simply needing care should not mean that your loved one has to sacrifice living in the home they love, giving up their treasured possessions and possibly even pets. Live-in care can enable an elderly person to remain at home in the neighbourhood they know, with friends and neighbours around them. Their live-in carer will support them to continue with hobbies and activities they enjoy as far as possible, and they will undoubtedly have a better quality of life.
Why is Elder Battersea’s best care solution?
With Elder live-in care, your loved one can continue to live their life in the way they choose. They will be able to make their own decisions about how they spend their time and will not need to conform to the rules and regulations that accompany life in a care home.
Elder’s carers are aware that staying as active as possible is important for older people and will support your loved one to continue enjoying physical activities, as appropriate. The carers will also help with some of the other tasks of daily life that your loved one may no longer be able to undertake alone, such as caring for pets and helping with the garden.

What our customers say
“The security and patience of live-in care has meant my mother has relaxed and her general disposition has improved to no end.”
How can my loved one’s life be improved by live-in care?
If your loved one lives alone you may worry about their well-being, both in the house and out in the local area. With a live-in carer to ensure that your loved one stays safe at all times, they will have much more freedom to enjoy their neighbourhood and get out to experience more of what London has to offer.
Nearby Battersea Park, for example, has lots to interest visitors of any age, and your elderly relative may like to visit the Pump House Gallery there or perhaps spend some quiet time in the Peace Pagoda looking over towards Chelsea embankment. Battersea Park Library has various group activities on offer, and the live-in carer could also accompany your loved one to meet up with friends there.
How does 24/7 care work?
A carefully chosen carer will move into your loved one’s home and will provide any care and support needed in terms of both personal care and general domestic tasks. Although the carer will need a room of their own, they will eat with your loved one and could share bathroom facilities as long as there is a cupboard to store their toiletries. They will also need an internet connection, so this is something that may need to be put in place if you opt for live-in care.
Elder will create a care plan that clearly details your elderly relative’s needs and how they would like these to be met. For example, some people will prefer to have their breakfast in bed before being assisted to get up, washed and dressed. The live-in carer will do whatever is needed to ensure your loved one’s life is as stress-free and comfortable as possible.
Elder’s carers are trained to care for people with a wide range of health conditions, including heart disease, stroke, Parkinson’s , cancer and dementia, so you do not need to worry that staying in the comfort of their own home will mean that your loved one will miss out on the highest quality of care available.
In addition to helping with shopping, laundry, cooking and cleaning or whatever is needed, their carer will also ensure that the care recipient’s health needs are met. The carer will help if your elderly relative has repeat prescriptions or regular appointments at a local surgery, with frequent visits to local health centres such as the Bridge Lane Group Practice or Queens Pharmacy.
What does Elder’s live-in care service cost?
Our fees are highly competitive at £1095 per week. This is a flat rate and there are no hidden fees, and can be up to 30% less than care home fees. For couples who both need care, live-in care is an even more economical option, although this does mean a slightly higher fee.
What are the advantages of choosing Elder?
At Elder we passionately believe in the importance of providing the highest standard of live-in care for the elderly. Because we match your loved one’s interests carefully with those of the live-in carer, you can be confident that they will be able to develop a friendly and comfortable relationship, making your loved one’s quality of life in later years as enjoyable as possible.
