April 2024 – Carer of the Month

Irina

Find out more about Irina who was nominated by a fellow carer who she shares caring duties with. She was nominated for her dedication and support during a particularly tricky time.

Irina was inspired to follow a career in care after volunteering at the Special Olympics. Since then she’s supported people with a wide range of complex needs both in residential care and in their own homes – making a positive difference to clients and their families alike.

In her spare time Irina is a big classical music fan and enjoys going to see live performances. She also enjoys doing crossword puzzles and reading.

Irina has formed a true friendship with our client.

If you had to describe Irina in just three words, what would they be?

Kind, hard working, and courteous.

Irina has been working with our client for over a year as his permanent day carer, I then came to work as his night carer and saw how hard working and patient she is with him, going above and beyond what is her actual duties.

“Our client was ill during the night and Irina got up to assist me so I could call an ambulance. She insisted on staying up to support me, and helped look after him with me until the  ambulance came which was over 2 hours later.

Irina then only had an hour left to get some sleep before her shift started. I offered to stay up longer but she refused, and then did her 12 hour shift as normal with a smile on her face and the patience of a saint”

Irina has formed a true friendship with our client and cares for him expertly. She cooks him lovely nutritious meals.

Irina is a pleasure to work alongside and is always available to help or give advice if needed, even when she is meant to be off shift”

On behalf of everyone at Elder HQ, congratulations Irina.
