May 2024 – Carer of the Month

Lorraine

Lorraine quickly became like a member of the family to Penny, the Elder customer who nominated her as May’s Carer of the Month. Read why below.

Lorraine joined the Elder platform in November 2020 – having felt compelled to return to her live-in care career after the pandemic. Since then she’s made a big impact, providing 113 weeks of care and earning this lovely nomination.

Lorraine loves meeting different people from all walks of life and putting a smile on their faces. In her spare time she likes to stay active, going for walks and spending time at the gym. She’s also a self taught candle maker.

We know we can 100% rely on her to take the greatest care

If you had to describe Lorraine in just three words, what would they be?

Friendly, dependable, a star.

“Mum has Alzheimer’s and her mental state is declining. She also recently suffered incontinence issues which Lorraine has dealt with in a totally matter-of-fact way. She’s managed to persuade mum to let her help in personal matters, which we would probably struggle with!”

Lorraine has been looking after my mum for the past year and a half and has become like a member of our family. She always keeps us updated on anything that we need to know about, whether that be how mum is feeling, what needs sorting out around the house, what needs buying as part of the weekly shop and any health issues.”

“We know we can 100% rely on her to take the greatest care and she has coped admirably with mum’s changing mental and physical state.”

On behalf of everyone at Elder HQ, congratulations Lorraine.
