What our Care Advisors do

Arranging care for the first time can feel like a lot to take in. Our Care Advisors are here to make it simpler. They'll get to know your loved one, explain how Elder works and help you work out which type of care fits your family. Here’s what they do:

  • Listen to what's been happening at home and what matters most to your loved one
  • Talk you through your options, from full-time live-in care to visiting care and respite care
  • Give you a clear weekly price and explain what's included
  • Guide you through your care appraisal and answer anything new on a follow-up call

Elder is an introductory agency, so you choose the self-employed carer who supports your loved one. Your Care Advisor provides you with the information you need to make that choice with confidence.

Meet the team

Each Care Advisor brings their own experience, from dementia and hospital discharge to urgent and short-term care. They’re here to help you find the right care, not to sell you something. Get to know our Care Advisors before you call.

Where our Care Advisors can help

No two families come to us with the same story. That’s why our Care Advisors have experience helping families with:

Dementia

Understanding how dementia care at home can help your loved one stay in familiar surroundings.

Coming home from hospital

Understanding the discharge process and arranging care after a hospital discharge, so the right support is ready when your loved one gets home.

Urgent care

Finding support quickly through emergency home care when you can't wait.

A break for family carers

Arranging respite care or holiday cover, so you can rest knowing your loved one is supported.

Caring for a couple

Arranging care that lets your loved ones stay together at home, even when their needs are different.

Paying for care

Understanding how much live-in care costs and what funding might be worth looking into.

Honest advice, even if Elder isn't the right fit

Our Care Advisors will always be straight with you. If Elder isn’t the right fit for your loved one, they'll tell you why and point you towards services that can help.

Some needs, such as injections or giving controlled drugs, aren't something carers introduced through Elder can support. Before we introduce a carer to you and your family, our Safety and Trust team reviews your loved one's needs. The team, which includes registered nurses, checks that live-in or visiting care is a suitable option.

    You choose your carer

The choice is always yours. Your Care Advisor stays with you until you’ve chosen your carer. After that, your Family Support Specialist takes over.

Once care begins, you get a two-week trial period, so you’ve got time to see how things feel at home.

What families say about our Care Advisors

Families often come to us at a stressful time. Here's what some of them said about the Care Advisors who helped them find the right care. Read more stories from families who found care through Elder.

“Elder has transformed the care situation for my mother, and made a substantial difference to her life compared to being in a care home. The platform offers a wide range of great carers at very reasonable weekly rates compared to standard agencies. I particularly appreciated the support of Ryan helping to onboard me and answering my questions”
