If you have an elderly relative who needs long-term care, Elder can provide all the support that they need in the comfort of their own home.
Live-in care means that a caregiver moves in with your loved one and is there twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Although the carer will need time off, whenever the elderly person needs assistance there will be someone available to provide this.
Elder’s carers typically work on a rota basis with one other carer, each working for two weeks and then having two weeks off. This provides unrivalled continuity of care and means that the carer and your loved one get to know one another really well and can form a close and trusting working relationship.
Live-in care has become increasingly popular because the care recipient benefits from one-to-one care that is specially devised to meet their individual needs. Unlike in a care home where staff are responsible for looking after a number of vulnerable adults, a live-in carer can provide companionship throughout the day.
It can be very upsetting for an elderly person to leave their own home and possibly their community and move into a care home, but with live-in care, they can continue to enjoy all the aspects of life in their locality that they are able to, with extra support from their carer.
The quality of live-in care from Elder is at least as high as that in a care home as all our carers are highly experienced and trained. They are able to provide the high level of care needed by someone living with dementia and also meet the needs of people with a range of different conditions.
Knowing that your loved one is in the home that they love, being well cared for and kept safe can give you peace of mind.
If your loved one is living in Bridgwater, Weston-super-Mare or any of the nearby communities, such as Highbridge, Cheddar or Wells, Elder can provide a live-in carer who will enable them to maximise their level of independence in the comfort of their own home.
The carer will take your loved one’s needs and wishes into account and provide whatever support they need, encouraging them to remain as active as they can.
If they enjoy doing odd jobs around the home, gardening or light exercise, you can be confident that the carer will help in any way that they can, ensuring that your relative is safe and able to enjoy their leisure time.

Your loved one may enjoy excursions into the town, perhaps visiting Weston Museum or having afternoon tea in the Edwardian-style tearooms on the Grand Pier and their carer will accompany them wherever they want to go.
If your loved one has a car, their carer could chauffeur them around the beautiful Somerset countryside or take them out for some retail therapy at the Sovereign Shopping Centre or meet friends at a local community centre.
A unique care plan will be created for your loved one so that all their needs and preferences are documented. Their live-in carer will do what is needed to keep the elderly person as comfortable and as safe as possible.
The care and support provided will vary depending on the individual but can include different levels of personal care and domestic help. For example, if your loved one needs help in the mornings to get up, washed and dressed, their carer will do this at the time of their choice.
Live-in care can also involve meal preparation, cleaning, laundry and other domestic tasks, depending on your loved one’s circumstances. If there are any changes to those circumstances or to your elderly relative’s health status, the care plan will be revised accordingly to reflect the care that is needed.
If your loved one needs support with GP appointments, for example, at the Locality Health Centre, or a prescription collected from a local service such as the Day Lewis Pharmacy, their live-in carer will ensure this is done.
Live-in care from Elder costs a flat rate of £795 per week. This can represent a considerable saving when compared with care home fees for a single elderly person, and if you are looking for care for a couple, it is even better value.
Although our fees are very competitive, Elder pays carers above the market rate to ensure that we can attract the highest quality caregivers.
At Elder, we are committed to the provision of excellent long-term care at home. Each care recipient’s interests are matched with those of the live-in carer, ensuring that they have plenty in common on which to build a great working relationship.
