Why consider live-in care in Montgomeryshire?

If you have an elderly relative who is no longer able to live independently at home but is reluctant to move into a care home, Elder live-in care can offer the care home alternative that you need. If you’d like to find out more about how we can provide care and support for your loved one in Montgomeryshire, call and speak to one of our friendly care advisors. Lines are open from 8am-8pm every day of the week.

Why is live-in care preferable to a care home in Montgomeryshire?

If you’re anxious to know your loved one is safe and well cared for, Elder’s live-in care service can help give you complete peace of mind. Your relative will benefit from the one-to-one care and companionship that they would be unlikely to find in a care home, and will be able to avoid all the upset and worry that moving away from home involves.

Remaining in their own community means that your loved one will be able to continue socialising with friends, neighbours and family members and doing the things that they enjoy.

Elder has carers throughout Montgomeryshire, in villages and major towns such as Newtown, Welshpool and Llanidoes, who are available to move in with an elderly person and provide 24/7 care. Our highly trained and experienced carers are able to offer all the care your loved one needs, whether this is companion care or more complex care, such as that needed by people who are living with dementia. It’s best of both worlds - we’re able to find a carer who can cope with even the most acute needs, while your loved one gets to stay in the home they love.

Why is live-in care the best solution for my elderly loved one?

Elder’s nationwide live-in care service will support your elderly relative to remain as independent as possible in their own familiar environment. Their individual needs will be discussed with you, a care plan formed, and the care they need will be provided by their live-in carer.

Elderly people are frequently much more active and more likely to participate in physical activities when they are in surroundings that are familiar to them. They may enjoy gardening, which is known to be beneficial in terms of health, and exercise that keeps them fitter and more mobile. Our carers will encourage your loved one to stay as active as they can in and around the home.

If your elderly relative is a pet owner you will probably be aware of the well-documented health benefits that animals can bring. Pet owners are often less stressed and have lower blood pressure than people who do not have pets, and having to give up a much-loved cat or dog when they move into a care home is very upsetting. An added benefit of live-in care is that your loved one can continue living with their pets and the caregiver will ensure they’re fed and well cared for.

What our customers say

“The security and patience of live-in care has meant my mother has relaxed and her general disposition has improved to no end.”

How can care from Elder give my relative the best possible quality of life in Montgomeryshire?

Elder carers recognise that needing 24/7 care does not mean that your loved one should be housebound. They’ll talk to your relative about the things they enjoy doing, and support them to continue with these where possible.

Your elderly loved one may enjoy visiting friends locally or perhaps a trip out to Coed-y-Dinas where, in addition to the Garden Centre, there is a Home and Country Centre. If your relative is a car owner, their live-in carer will be able to chauffeur them in it once the appropriate insurance cover has been put in place.

In fine weather, Glansevern Hall Gardens makes another lovely destination for a day out, perhaps finishing with tea in the Potting Shed Caféin the Georgian courtyard.

Even when the weather is less kind, your loved one will still be able to get out and about safely when accompanied by their dedicated live-in carer. The Old Bell Museum, housed in a sixteenth-century inn in Montgomery, has many interesting exhibits although may not be suitable for those with mobility problems.

Can my loved one’s care plan be tailored to their requirements?

Each of Elder’s care recipients has an individual care plan created for them that is based on their unique needs. Their carer will do what is needed to keep them as comfortable and as safe as possible.

If your relative needs assistance with personal care tasks such as washing, getting dressed or using the toilet, this will be provided at times convenient to the care recipient. They may also need help with domestic tasks such as cleaning, cooking or shopping, so the appropriate assistance can, again, be provided.

If any changes occur with your loved one’s health status or circumstances, then the care plan will be updated accordingly. As far as healthcare is concerned, their live-in carer will accompany your loved one to GP appointments, for example, at Montgomery Medical Practice or to clinic appointments at Newtown Hospital. They will also ensure that prescriptions are ordered and collected when needed from pharmacy local services.

How much does Elder’s live-in care service cost?
