Live-in care can be the best solution for anyone who needs full-time care but wants to remain in their own house. The majority of older people prefer to stay at home as long as they can, so if your loved one is in this position, Elder can provide all the care they need to remain independent.

What are the advantages of live-in care in Lincolnshire?

Having a trained carer living in your loved one’s home with them means that they can meet all their care needs 24-hours a day. Most older people have lived long and independent lives, and want to be able to carry on making their own decisions about aspects of their everyday lives. With a one to one carer, your loved one can choose what they eat and when, what time to get up, whether to go out, and make all the other decisions about their life as they are used to. If you have two parents living in their own home, a live-in carer can support them both.

Being able to remain in their own home is very important to many people. They want to be surrounded by all their precious possessions, be able to go out into their garden or spend time with a beloved pet. These things just would not be possible if they had to go into a care home in order to get the care they need.

How long does the live-in carer stay?

This type of care can be arranged for a certain period of time such as two weeks whilst another carer is away, for a few weeks if your loved one needs extra support following an illness, injury or operation, or on a permanent basis.

The carer will usually work on a rota basis with a second carer, each working two weeks on and two weeks off. This provides excellent continuity of care for your loved one, so that they get to know their caregivers really well and they often become more like additional family members than carers.

What duties will the live-in carer carry out?

This really depends on the individual circumstances of your loved one. If they need help with the basic activities of daily life, the carer will support them to get up and dressed, carry out personal hygiene tasks and assist them with toileting, mobilising and anything else they cannot manage alone.

They also help with the day to day running of the household by carrying out tasks such as laundry, light cleaning, shopping and meal preparation. If your loved one just needs supervision and support, they will provide this - it really is all based on individual needs.

Companion care means that your loved one will benefit from having company in their home and support to continue to live their life in their chosen way. If they have a hobby that they would like to continue or want to maintain a social life outside the home, the carer will help with this.

Live-in carers can also help with various different aspects of life such as gardening or pet care. This will all be discussed when you contact Elder to discuss care at home in Lincolnshire.

What our customers say

Do I pay the carer directly?

No, Elder recruits and trains carers in Lincolnshire to provide live-in care for older people. The company takes up references and carries out all the necessary background checks before offering the carer employment. Elder is responsible for paying the carer and dealing with all the details such as national insurance and income tax, so you do not have to worry about this. They also have the necessary insurances in place, so the process is much simpler than if you were employing a carer directly.

Can you provide care for different conditions?

Elder has carers who are trained in all aspects of elderly care, including dementia care. Whether your loved one has Parkinson’s disease, heart disease or has had a stroke, our carers will work with other health professionals to provide the care they need. If your loved one is living with dementia you will know the importance of providing stability in their life. Care at home means that they are able to stay in their own home where everything is familiar, and they will feel much happier and less anxious than they would if they had to move into a care home.

If you know your loved one needs full time care, but they are frightened of being “put into a home”, you can provide them with the best possible quality of life by arranging for them to have a live-in carer in Lincolnshire from Elder. In addition to doing the best for your loved one, you will also benefit from the knowledge that they have a dedicated one to one carer keeping them safe twenty four hours a day.
